Prequel to Anupamaa

Rupali Ganguly’s show Anupama is rapidly gaining in popularity across India. Recently, she took to social media to announce its prequel which will provide insight into events which influenced Anupama’s life.

TellyChakkar reports that this series will transport viewers back 17 years into Anupama’s past and feature characters like Vanraj, Baa, Toshu and Samar in their younger forms.

Rupali recently shared an introduction video for the prequel on her Instagram page; its theme focused around taking advantage of opportunities and following your dreams. Disney+ Hotstar will begin streaming it starting April 25.


Rupali Ganguly made her comeback as Monisha in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai with this show and is perfect as Gujarati homemaker Anupama. Sudhanshu Pandey plays her husband Vanraj who believes wives belong in the kitchen but is having an extramarital affair with Kavya Gandhi.

Anupama feels disrespected by her husband and decides to live her life alone, teaching her children about respect and self-love while longing to become a mother again.

Later, Anupama learns of her brother’s illness and rushes to the hospital, only to discover his death there. This tragic event reignites Anupama’s desire to become a mother. With Moti Baa’s assistance she learns the importance of trust, mutual love and respect as keys for successful marriage.
